Copyright / Reuse policy

All original content in downloads are hereby released under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International UNLESS otherwise stated on the file’s page OR it has the Simasota County seal or Bonnet Brooke (the Abrooke Trading logo) on it. Feel free to redistribute on ModTheSims, your own website, the exchange (if it ever comes back or there’s a mirror), etc AS LONG as you attribute it to Simasota.com AND do not try to profit off of it on a paysite or any other items for sale (t-shirts, etc). You can redistribute stuff with the county seal on it too, but I’m maintaining copyright over the seal itself to the extent allowed by law, for obvious reasons. Do NOT redistribute ANYTHING that has the Bonnet Brooke Abrooke Trading logo on it without my permission. If you think any of my work is worthy of redistributing at a price, I’m flattered, but you WILL contact me to discuss sharing those profits (if it’s something I’m inclined to allow). Bear in mind that all of this only applies to ORIGINAL CONTENT created by Abrooke Trading and its agents. Intellectual property of Electronic Arts is subject to EA’s licensing (which explicitly allows fanfiction like this website). Creations by other modders including in our creations is subject to the other modders’ reuse policies. Finally, a fair bit of our content is copyrighted materials used under fair use as satire (for example, anything to do with Tom Nook or Animal Crossing belongs to Nintendo, Roxy from Final Fight belongs to Capcom, Winn-Dixie belongs to Southeastern Grocers, etc). Express permission is granted to upload everything to The Sims Graveyard  if this site ever goes away and either I have indicated it is closing or nobody is successful in getting in touch with me (or Abrooke Trading) in a reasonable amount of time. If in doubt, feel free to contact me about proposed reuse.

We respect the copyrights of others, and intend to fully comply with the desires of other copyright holders (or provide a solid case for fair use, such as satire), however we are human and prone to error. If you see your intellectual property being used somewhere on this site in a way in which you object, please let us know so the matter can be addressed. Note that abusive DMCA notices for fair use cases will be contested and treated as feedback (in other words, we need to be more blatant in making fun of your work because you couldn’t tell it was satire).

Note, the satirical use of other works of fiction is not an endorsement or condemnation of those works. If you like the story line of the characters, objects, and lots, you are encouraged to support the copyright holders by exploring their inspiration, but do so at your own discretion as some of them may not be family friendly or works I would endorse as an Independent Baptist. Some of the characters’ story lines may be significantly different from the characters they were inspired by.
